Biography
Sami Maalas works mainly in the fields of performance-, installation and videoart. His collective public works has encouraged people to take active role in the process of making living city environment. Maalas is remembered, along side with his other works, for his symbolistic-ritualistic performance-art, which he has also performed internationaly.
He graduated from The Finnish Academy of Fine Arts (MA)- Time and Space department in Helsinki, 2010, and is one of the founding and still active members of Pispala Center of Contemporary Art Hirvitalo in Tampere. Currently Maalas is working as an independent artist-curator- producer of various art happenings in Finland and abroad.
